I like to think I have morals. Golden rules I try to stick to. Be nice to people. Don't push my worldview on others. Practice empathy. Don't use the stolen work of animators to make a vanity trailer based on a book that came out five years ago.
We can't all be perfect.
So yes, I produced, edited and cobbled together a trailer that looks like it belongs on a rejected pile of Amazon Prime shows. Mostly because the tools are getting that good, and messing with them helps me spot this stuff in the wild, which is a lot these days.
Consistent characters are getting better. Not perfect, but closer than Stable Diffusion 1.5 ever got. The real workhorse is Minimax H3. It's open, uncensored, and runs locally. The video above was made mostly on a six year old GPU. Liberating and scary as hell.

The problem with books is that they have words, and people don't like looking at those for too long. People like pictures and limbs moving at 24 frames per second. But books give you unlimited freedom. They let you write unimaginable moments and lean on the reader to fill in the rest with their own gray matter.
I'm proud of the story. I'm also a little sad it's stuck in its current medium. Yes, I dreamed of the day a Netflix executive would hurl $400m at my front porch for the movie rights. I also believe I'll collect social security one day.
