The evidence in question is from Machine56, an Indonesian cyberpunk design studio. Their entire aesthetic is best described as the future depicted by early 2000s rave promoters.
I love their work.
Their helmets look like something I'd wear to a robot-themed cyberrave/furry orgy. Those robot heads cost around a grand, which puts them in the category of things I will look at and never touch. Like furries.
For years they sold a font, M56DB01, for $12. Then one day they stopped. It wasn't discontinued. It wasn't removed. It wasn't pulled for licensing reasons. Just marked SOLD OUT.
A digital file...sold out?
They ran out of zip files? I don't get it.
To be clear, this is their right. As an American (or Indonesian) you can sell your products however you want (I think). You can delete the original. You can put them in a vault and throw the key away in Tanah Lot. You decide whether your digital download is a seasonal vegetable or a can of dolphin tuna.
At one point, we as a self-aware species, thought NFTs would make digital items rare and somehow valuable. I personally thought it was a cool idea, in theory.
In practice it was some of the dumbest shit to come out of 2020.
