No, not like a chatbot. Not a stranger from the Pacific Rim. An actual little animated person. Standing there. On your homepage. Blinking sometimes.
All the ingredients for saas-uccess
Meet SitePal. It's been running since 2003. It is still running right now. I found it from a random video tutorial (part 2 of 2) through a YouTube recommendation. I assumed it was some NightmareTV mashup or jokey video – but no. It was real. It was three years old and somehow looked 20.
SitePal is a service that lets you place a speaking avatar on your website. You pick from over 450 characters, write some text or record some audio, and then you embed a small animated person...thing – who will then deliver info to anyone unfortunate enough to visit your website. The avatar can be a professional-looking man in a blazer. A cartoon woman gesturing warmly. A realistic 3D head generated from a photo of your own face, arguably the most terrifying option available.
